Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)

  • This implanted device provides an uplink to the internet for it’s users. The system has a major security flaw, of course; it requires firmware updates, and must -- for security reasons -- take them using a physical interface.
  • The BCI has a flaw; the AI can hijack the BCI when in close enough proximity to it. This is no more than 10 feet, probably, like 3.
  • Hacking at the beginning takes a significant enough amount of time that you can get caught. 10-30 seconds at the beginning.
  • I’d suggest it requires 3 feet of distance at the beginning, and you literally must plug in a module. That means anyone who would walk in the room would immediately grow suspicious of why you have a wire connected to your victim. This provides a gameplay risk where you must stealthily isolate a target before you can take them. (As a model of this type of gameplay, I’d point to Hitman.)
  • Upgrades can be researched, allowing for wireless attacks, or speeding up the hacking process.

A.S.S.

  • Artificial Simulated Sentience
  • Created when Dad tries to control the family’s pet cat
  • Game over if you ever try to assimilate another cat
  • Controls minions after hacking them
  • Control limited to processing power available
  • Control mini game represents ASS learning desires of host

Enzyme G1

  • Harvested from humans
  • enables more complex bio-mechanical systems, such as BCI feature enhancements, or better ASS control over minions

Ansible

  • FTL communication is possible to remote ships and places
  • Low grade, FTL travel available as well; very risky, lost several ships already

Replicators

  • Advanced 3D printers, perhaps almost universal constructors
  • Pay credits to produce equipment
